Only At Carver Elementary

I thought about naming this post "Things You'd Never Hear At A Christian School" but - it wouldn't fit on the sidebar and you never know these days.

I went to lunch at Carver today to eat with Cooper. The whole family went. It was...noisy. I love going to Cooper's school. He's a minority there and when I show up, Coop's friends think I'm the "bomb" because I am a white guy with an earring.

Yeah - I have an earring and my kid is in the Chess club...but I digress.

So, I'm at lunch, this kid hurries over and sits by me.

"You Cooper's Dad?"

"Yes, I am."

"My dad got out of jail this week!"

"Really! That's, that's great. You glad to have him around?"

"Oh yeah! We're going to have a birthday party for me in a couple of weeks. Can Cooper come to it?"

"I think I'd like to come too, is that okay?"
