Major League Losers!
Major League Baseball came out with their new drug testing standards today. What a joke. Is there a professional sport in a more precarious public relations position other than baseball? (Hockey? NHL has been on strike? You're kidding, right?)Here are the changes - first offense - 10 games as opposes to treatment. One year suspension happens after 4th offense. Stimulants are not on the list of drugs that are tested for - so you can't take steriods but you can pop uppers. Go figure.
It's a weak, feeble attempt to get the government out of their hair and WAY SHORT of what the NFL does and the World Anti-Doping Agency does.
NFL - first offense for ANY drug is 4 games. That's 25% of the season and their paycheck. 10 games in MLB is less than 10%. Nice try, guys. The World Anti-Doping - first offense gets you 2 years. The 2nd offense gets you a lifetime ban. That's teeth.
